The Emerald Pool Tour
From the Port of Arrival, you travel across the countryside heading up mountain to the Trois Pitons Rainforest Reserve. The summit of the second highest mountain peaks is1600 meters.
First stop is at Mello’s Roadside Shack to discover the various samples of agricultural products including fruits, nuts, spices, root vegetables, herbs and traditional preparations of coffee, cocoa and other items. Fresh herbs are grown in the back garden.
Next is the discovery of the Emerald Pool and Waterfall. Your guide will lead you into the rainforest reserve down the looping trail to reach the embankment of the Emerald Pool which is being fed by a 10 meter waterfall. The Pool is usually crystal clear and, a dip can be absolutely refreshing for persons wishing to return to their teen age. On return to the parking area, you can shop for souvenirs and local handicrafts.
The Botanic Gardens is your next st with a walking discovery of this historic attraction. The indigenous parrots are housed in there. The crushed school bus by Huricane David in 1979 lies under the huge “Boabab Tree”. The large “Banyan Tree” is very popular with avid photographers.
Final visit is Morne Bruce View Point from where you get a bird’s eye view of the Capital – Roseau. The Botanical Gardens is now immediately in view below. Goodwill community is also in view as well as your ship docked in the harbor.
